The Author, second from the left, on Table Mountain, the heart of South Africa’s fynbos vegetation. This vegetation type is the smallest but richest plant kingdom in the world. This picture was taken on a post-workshop tour in Dec. 2002 (Red Lists in southern Africa). Individuals in the picture represented the following conservation organisations: (ArtDataBanken/IUCN Red List Committee, Sweden), WWF (Zimbabwe), SADC (Malawi) UNDP (Angola), Biodiversity Foundation for Africa (Zimbabwe) and IUCN (Zimbabwe).
